On, Wisconsin! State celebrates sports holiday

Today is as close to being a state sports holiday as it can get.

The Milwaukee Brewers will celebrate Opening Day by hosting the Colorado Rockies, with the first pitch to be thrown by former Brewers owner and Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig.

The Brewers advised the sold-out crowd to allow for extra time to get into Miller Park to accommodate for new security screenings, including metal detectors, that are now standard procedures for Major League Baseball. The game will start at 1:10 p.m.

The parking lots were open and the grills were lit before 10 a.m. this morning. Kyle Lohse will toe the rubber as the Opening Day starting pitcher for the Brewers.

Meanwhile, the University of Wisconsin Badgers will tangle with Duke University in the national championship game tonight. Tip-off is set for 8:18 p.m.
