Jack Anick, who founded the firm, will remain in his role as president. The firm, which has 23 employees and specializes in nonprofit accounting, did not previously have a CEO position. It has about 90 nonprofit clients.

O’Leary has more than 10 years of experience in nonprofit and for-profit organizations. He most recently spent four years as chief financial officer at Milwaukee-based compression garment manufacturer Solaris. Before that, O’Leary was a senior accountant in auditing and attestation at Wipfli LLP, where he audited nonprofits.

“(Anick has) had a similar role in the past, but never a CEO role, so they just wanted to provide additional support to our clients,” O’Leary said. “I joined a really strong team here in a high-performing company, so I am mostly trying to build on the successes that we’ve had.”

Anick & Associates has been growing in several ways over the past year or so, he said. The firm helps about 20 nonprofits file founding paperwork per year, and about half of those are retained as clients.

“We’ve been adding new clients and fortunately, many of our not-for-profits are successful and they’re growing. And as they grow, we grow,” O’Leary said.

The company increased its revenue by about 15 percent from 2014 to 2015. And he plans to hire another four to five employees over the next 12 months.
