    Hybrid Drive System

The company name means “optimal force.” Waukesha-based Odyne Systems LLC’s advanced plug-in hybrid technology allows medium and heavy duty trucks to achieve optimal force by improving performance measures that can reduce operating and maintenance costs for companies.

“The Odyne plug-in hybrid electric system allows these trucks to reduce fuel consumption and emissions by allowing the vehicle to operate on both diesel and battery power,” said Matt Jarmuz, director of sales. “Non-hybrid vehicles utilize diesel fuel and a propulsion electric motor. The diesel truck will run sometimes eight hours or more a day because the crew members power their tools and equipment from the truck.”

The system can be installed on both new and existing vehicles.

According to Joe Dalum, president and chief executive officer of Odyne Systems, older vehicles are subject to decreased fuel efficiency, and the retrofits can assist in reduction of fuel use and emissions of a fleet without the expenditure of purchasing new vehicles.

“Odyne’s system is the only one that provides fuel reduction benefits both during drive time and at the job site where crews can turn off the engine and power all attachments and tools as well as provide heat and air conditioning to the cab,” Dalum said.

The Odyne hybrid system helps organizations reduce their carbon footprints and meet sustainable energy goals by displacing the use of fossil fuels with cleaner, lower cost electricity from the grid, and providing a quieter, safer working environment.

Odyne has fielded more plug-in hybrid trucks to fleets throughout the United States than any other supplier.

The company sells direct to truck manufacturers and through a global distribution and service network including Altec, DUECO, Terex Utilities and selected Allison Transmission distributors.
