More than 139,000 people in Wisconsin have enrolled in private health insurance through the Affordable Care Act marketplace during the open enrollment period, according to new data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
In September, HHS projected that Wisconsin would have 79,000 enrollees by April, the end of the open enrollment period. Wisconsin’s current total significantly exceeds those projections, with a total of 139,815 enrollees.
These numbers do not include any information on how many of these enrollees have paid a premium. Reports are indicating the Obama administration won’t have data on who has paid a premium until later this year.
At the end of February, 71,000 Wisconsinites had enrolled.
In the final month of open enrollment alone, which was extended into April for those who had started an application, more than 68,000 Wisconsin residents enrolled.
