Obamacare enrollment in Wisconsin reaches 56,436

56,436 people in Wisconsin have signed up for an Obamacare marketplace insurance plan in Wisconsin, according to new data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

15,684 Wisconsinites signed up in the month of January.

Nationwide, a total of 3.3 million have signed up, including 1,146,071 people in the month of January. HHS said this number includes those who have paid a premium and those who have not yet paid a premium.

In Wisconsin, 56 percent of those who have signed up for coverage are women.

The people who are signing up continue to skew older in Wisconsin, with 43 percent between the ages of 55 and 64. 20 percent of those who have signed up in Wisconsin are between the ages of 18 and 34 – a critical age group in the Affordable Care Act – below the national average of 25 percent.

Nationally, HHS said, “the proportion of young adults (18 to 34) who have selected a Marketplace plan through the state-based marketplaces and federally-facilitated marketplace has continued to grow faster in the fourth month of the open enrollment period than in the prior three months.”
