Obama appearance boosts Barrett campaign

President Barack Obama’s trip to Menomonee Falls this week gave a boost to clean tech ZBB Energy Corp. and the coffers of gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett and the state Democratic Party.
The fundraisers raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Dem election effort and helped hype Barrett’s image as a good guy who would fight for middle-class issues. Obama highlighted Barrett’s role in stopping a domestic violence incident at the Wisconsin State Fair last year – a role that resulted in permanent injuries to Barrett’s hand.
“He stepped in, tried to help and sustained serious injuries. That’s what counts as a leader,” Obama said at Monday’s fundraiser. “That’s a mark of real character. That’s a person who will fight for you each and every day.”
However, The Wall Street Journal’s conservative editorial board issued a scathing editorial on ZBB Energy, the Menomonee Falls high-tech battery-maker visited by Obama. The editorial ripped the Obama administration for pumping money into an operation losing millions annually, saying, "Perhaps ZBB Energy will eventually prove to be the Google of the battery business, but then again Google didn’t need taxpayer help.”
