What does your daily or weekly fitness regime consist of?
"5 mile run per day, 20-30 minute elyptical per day, 45 minute strength training every other day, 45 minute core/balance every other day."

Other than the obvious health benefits, how has being fit improved your life?
"My confidence level is much higher when I am in good shape. I sleep better when I exercise regularly. Clothes always fit – even clothes that are 10 years old. I can keep up with kids playing football or other activities. My general mood is better when I stay on my exercise program."

How does personal fitness affect your work life?
"I think more clearly when I exercise. I’ve run without headphones for 10 years – I can solve work issues during that time. I never get tired at work when I exercise regularly."

Do you have a corporate health or wellness initiative?
"Yes."

How does fitness or wellness affect your overall organization?
"Our entire organization has been on company health programs since 2004. We offered free fitness center memberships in our building in 2005 and 2006. We offered to pay half of all fitness center memberships in 2007 and introduced the WAC corporate program to the company in January, 2007. Our employees have almost never needed sick leave, and their productivity is extremely high. Over half of our employees are part of the fitness program."

What advice do you have for other executives interested in starting either a personal fitness plan or corporate wellness initiative?
"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Also, lead by example. You can’t introduce a fitness program if you think you are too busy to participate yourself."
