Notable Women in Sports: Brenda Best

Class of 2024

As senior director of human resources and diversity, equity and inclusion for the Milwaukee Brewers, Brenda Best has fostered “a living and breathing culture of belonging” across the franchise.

Best joined the Brewers in 2014 as an HR recruiter. During her tenure, she has developed and implemented an employee resource group program, implemented the KultureCity program for Brewers fans with sensory challenges, and increased opportunities to attract and retain Latino and other diverse employee and fan groups, according to Francesca Mayca Wegner, president and chief possibilities officer at HPGM, a Latino leadership organization.

In March 2024, Best was voted as one of the Brewers’ Most Inspiring Women. She also volunteers for community organizations, including HPGM and The Women’s Center. In 2023, Best was named an Inclusive Influencer by the Women’s Fund of Greater Milwaukee for her leadership. In 2024, Best was appointed vice chair of the board for HPGM.

“Over the last year, she shared significant expertise in the development of refreshed culture essentials – mission, vision, values – that will reflect HPGM’s evolution over the last 23 years,” Wegner said.
