Thelma Sias is the founder and president of The Sias Group, a Milwaukee-based firm that provides political and leadership consulting services. Prior to her retirement in 2017, she served as vice president of local affairs for We Energies.
In addition, Sias has held numerous leadership roles in the greater Milwaukee community. Sias has served on a number of civic and community boards, including the African American Women’s Project, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, Sojourner Family Peace Center, Cardinal Stritch University and the United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County, which gave her the Linda T. Mellowes Woman Leader of the Year Award in 2020.
“All you have to do is be in a group of women from incredibly disparate backgrounds and say, ‘My friend Thelma Sias,’ and almost, like a chorus, everyone will say, ‘Well, I know Thelma,’ or, ‘Thelma told me that,’ or, ‘Thelma helped me,’” Anne E. Schwartz, former communications director for the Milwaukee Police Department, told Milwaukee Magazine. “It’s hard to find someone here who doesn’t know who she is or whose life she hasn’t touched.”
