Kristen Carioti, Ph.D., dean of Mount Mary University’s School of Arts & Sciences, is an educator and leader in business and economics, according to Karen Friedlen, vice president for academic affairs at Mount Mary, located in Milwaukee.
“Carioti is passionate about empowering women through financial literacy, helping them pave a path toward a sustainable and secure future. She has researched and written extensively about economic disparity, the gender wage gap in the United States and navigating student loan debt,” Friedlen said.
In October 2024, Carioti published “Introduction to Personal Finance: A Step-by-Step Guide to Financial Freedom” with Sage Publishing. She previously served as director of Mount Mary’s MBA program. Other recent publication topics include student loan debt and educational mismatch and the earnings distribution.
Carioti has served as a board member for The Women’s Center, a Waukesha-based nonprofit dedicated to ending domestic abuse and sexual violence. She has also worked as a volunteer financial literacy instructor for Make A Difference Wisconsin, an organization teaching financial literacy programs and essential money management skills to youth.
