Jerry Johnson, vice president and community manager at JPMorgan Chase in Milwaukee, works to make the company’s $30 billion racial equity commitment tangible for Milwaukee residents every day, according to colleagues.
“Leveraging 20 years of experience in community-focused financial services and a personal passion for volunteerism, Jerry is an unparalleled changemaker for communities throughout our city,” said Amanda Bolton, Wisconsin regional communications manager for JPMorgan Chase. “As Milwaukee’s community manager, Jerry addresses the financial wellness needs of the Black community, transforming community banking into a tool for community revitalization. He has developed a program in Milwaukee, becoming a vital financial resource for historically underbanked and marginalized communities.”
Johnson established the first partnership between the Milwaukee County Community Reintegration Center (formerly known as the Milwaukee County House of Corrections) and a financial institution to offer financial literacy classes to incarcerated individuals. Participants can use the resources to improve their long-term financial health, which is linked to lower recidivism rates, Bolton said. Johnson also collaborates with the Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce to conduct financial fitness workshops.
