Northwestern Mutual Foundation’s grants promote Milwaukee

The Northwestern Mutual Foundation, the largest corporate giver in the state, is giving $450,000 in grants to help seven nonprofit organizations that promote culture and sports in Wisconsin.

From after-hours events to hands-on children’s activities, the nonprofit recipients are shaping the Milwaukee experience, according to the foundation.

“Events and attractions create more than just good memories – they also help to attract and retain businesses and a talented workforce to Milwaukee,” said Deanna Tillisch, Northwestern Mutual Foundation vice president. “These kinds of investments help to strengthen our economy by making the Milwaukee area a great place to live, work and play.”

The recipients of the grants include the Milwaukee Art Museum’s MAM After Dark program; the Brewers Community Foundation’s Stealing for Miracles program; the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts’ Destination Marketing Package; the Milwaukee Public Museum’s Mummies of the World exhibit; Milwaukee World Festival Inc.’s Summerfest Children’s Zone; the Milwaukee Zoological Society’s Munchkin Dairy Farm; and the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center’s Making Milwaukee a Green Destination program.
