Christmas Clearing Council announces Angel Award winners

Christmas Clearing Council of Waukesha County (CCC) announced the recipients of its annual Angel Awards in four categories: Individual, Group, Business and Organization.  The recipients were chosen based on their strong commitment to furthering the mission of CCC in 2008.

“Christmas Clearing Council established the annual Angel Awards in 2006 to recognize those in our community who, through special acts of generosity, further the CCC mission of helping families celebrate a more joyful Christmas,” said Ruth Page Jones, CCC’s executive director.

Angel Award recipients include:

Individual: Kathy McAvoy for her dedication to CCC every holiday season for more than 25 years.

Youth Group: University Lake School, Hartland.

University Lake School (ULS) has helped CCC in its efforts to provide Christmas gifts for children in need for many years. In what has become a tradition, ULS holds a school-wide drive each holiday season to collect toys, gloves, hats, mittens and scarves and presents them to CCC at an annual assembly.

Community Organization: Waukesha Golden K Kiwanis

The Waukesha Golden K Kiwanis sponsored numerous families through CCC from 1998 to 2004. In 2005, when they replaced their sponsorship activities with financial help, they became one of CCC’s most generous supporters, donating thousands of dollars to CCC’s efforts through the years. In 2009, several Kiwanians also donated their time to help assemble bikes for the CCC Toy Shop.

Business: Cooper Power Systems, Waukesha

Since 1998, Cooper Power Systems has made an annual charitable contribution to help families and children through CCC. Cooper Power has also demonstrated its commitment to CCC by sponsoring families and providing toys for the CCC Toy Shop.
