Alzheimer’s Association names new board members

The Alzheimer’s Association, Southeastern Wisconsin chapter, recently named four new board members and honored local professionals. The new board members include: Jestene McCord, a retired nurse, who practiced in Milwaukee for over 25 years. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2008, and is a spokesperson for people with early stage Alzheimer’s disease. McCord is the first individual with Alzheimer’s to serve on the local chapter board of directors. Jim Davis, retired businessman and caregiver for his wife. Jackie Harrell, who, along with her husband and family, was recently featured in the HBO documentary, “The Alzheimer’s Project.” Mark Stenzel, director of Fixed Income, Capital Markets, Robert W. Baird & Company. Two new appointments were made to the executive committee of the board: Beth Meyer Arnold was appointed to the position of vice president and Ellen Dizard was appointed secretary.  

The following individuals were also honored for their continuous dedication and support of the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association: Investigator of the Year: Jerome Carson Smith, PhD, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee; Pracitioner of the Year:    Jody Krainer, Milwaukee Center for Independence; Friend of the Year: Jim Marks, Greater Milwaukee Foundation and Caregiver of the Year: Cassandra McShepard. In addition, a special recognition plaque was presented to Warren Pierson, an outgoing board member, for his numerous years on the board of directors, and his steadfast support of the Alzheimer’s Association mission.
