The March of Dimes Wisconsin Chapter has added Dana Saxton as division director for its Milwaukee Division, which includes Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Washington, and Waukesha counties. Saxton will organize and manage all activities in the division including fund raising and volunteer development and program and community services. Saxton was formerly, the director of outreach and communications for a large membership organization in Milwaukee.
The Milwaukee Division of the March of Dimes coordinates the March for Babies held at O’Donnell Park in downtown Milwaukee in April, and at the Racine Zoo in May. The Signature Chefs Auction at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center and the Drive for Babies at Road America are also events the Milwaukee Division coordinates.

Easter Seals announces new board members
The Board of Directors  of  the former Waukesha Training Center, have joined the board leadership of Easter Seals Southeast Wisconsin  to lead the new merged organization in 2010. The board of directors include: president, Melissa Koeppel of Grant Thornton; vice president, Roger Schaus of Generac; secretary, Beth Schimel of NovoNordisk; and treasurer, Frank Windt of Schenck Business Solutions. Other board members include; John Bosbous, Bucyrus International; Valerie Clarke, WE Energies; Daniel Corcoran, Custom Production Grinding Inc.; Nancy Creuziger, Manpower; Dennis Farrell, trustee – Village of Menomonee Falls; Ina Fischer, parent representative; Bob Artin Haig, honorary board member; Raejean Kanter, development consultant; Laurie Lawson, Waukesha Memorial Hospital; Robert Mueller, Aurora Health Care; Julie Murphy, MAPS WI Geriatric Education Center Marquette University; Tina Neis, Waukesha State Bank; Kelly Neitzke, Congdon, Walden, Schuster & Vaklyes, S.C.; Marie Nienhuis, Frett/Barrington, Ltd.; Karen Ordinans, Children’s Health Alliance of Wisconsin; |James J. Tri-Adathon, a joint venture between Milwaukee-based Catral Doyle creative, the Welke Group and Elm Grove-based Clear Verve Marketing, selected 21 nonprofit organizations to receive 24 hours of free pro bono marketing support. The services provided include marketing communications, strategic planning, web site design, radio scripting, graphic design, and media relations planning. “Working together on these projects really opens up the things we can do for people,” said Christina Steder, owner of Clear Verve Marketing. “It allows me to take a project that maybe my firm could only do half of, and bring in these other people to finish it because that is their specialty.”
According to Steder, the event was well received, and is something the firms plan to do on an annual basis. Click here to view a video about the Tri-Adathon event and its efforts.  The Hebron House of Hospitality in Waukesha, was selected to be a part of the Tri-Adathon effort.

Annual volunteer/fundraising event: Gourmet Dinner, April 25; Walk-A-Thon, June 26; and Pig Roast, Aug. 15.

What makes your organization unique? “We have homeless shelters in Waukesha and Washington Counties, all are 24 hour shelters. We also offer other programs to help individuals that are facing homelessness stay in their homes.” 

Why did you want to get involved in the Tri-Adathon effort? “One of the goals for this year’s Walk-A-Thon is to focus more on advertising and getting the word out there about the event. We wanted to try to have a radio spot done and when I saw the information about the Tri-Adathon I thought it might be a good fit.” 

What help did you receive from Tri-Adathon? “The Tri-Adathon people wrote us a radio spot, had a voice over record the radio spot and they were able to get us air time for the radio spot.”

What are your immediate organizational goals as a result of the Tri-Adathon effort?
“Our goals have not changed since the Tri-Adathon, we are still going to work on getting more advertising and making sure we get the word out about the Walk-A-Thon this year.”

Is your organization in search of board members? “Yes”

How can business people/the community help your organization? “Businesses can get involved in many ways, they could be a corporate sponsor of one of our events, donate items to one of our events, or sign people up to come to the events. The community can help by donating items or money to our agency, participating in our events, volunteering as a board member or just volunteering at one of our shelters.”
