Boys and Girls Club members take tour of Hal Leonard
Hal Leonard Corporation of Milwaukee recently welcomed high school and middle school students from the Daniels-Mardak Boys & Girls Club for a tour of the company headquarters.
Hal Leonard is the world’s largest music print publisher, and the tour was part of the Club’s CareerLaunch and Money Matters program. Both programs are part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Education and Career Development initiatives.
“You can talk about what a company does, and the skills you need to succeed in a career, but seeing these things in action is an entirely different experience,” said Keith Mardak, chairman and chief executive officer of Hal Leonard. “We’re happy to open our offices to show these kids what our company is all about. You never know what will ignite a spark.”
The Club members and staff got a first-hand look at the wide range of employment opportunities that exist within any business, and the unique skill sets that positions in different departments require. They learned the many steps in the development of a Hal Leonard publication, and were even treated to a sneak-preview piano performance of a not-yet-published piece of sheet music.
“It was a great experience for our members to see not only the music side of Hal Leonard, but to also get an understanding of the many jobs and careers that are needed to make the company successful,” said Donitha Butler, manager of the Daniels-Mardak Club.
