  • Friday, June 8 The Wisconsin Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will honor the winners and all nominees of its annual Milwaukee Man & Woman of the Year campaign at its Grand Finale Gala at the Pfister Hotel starting at 6:30 p.m. The event will include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, silent auction, dinner, live auction and announcement of the 2012 Milwaukee Man & Woman of the Year. The winners are eligible to be honored as LLS National Man & Woman of the Year. In addition to the Gala, winner honors includes recognition throughout the region, a full-page advertisement featured in USA Today, and the satisfaction that their commitment to finding cures will help families with blood cancer. The nominees have worked for the past 10 weeks to raise money for blood cancer research and patient services. In 2011, the campaign raised more than $210,000.  Caden Becker and Emma Einhorn will be recognized as this year’s boy and girl of the year. This year’s candidates include  Dan Eggers of Eggers Imprints, Daniel Einhorn of Capital Midwest Fund, Edward Fitzpatrick III of Principal Financial Group, Bruce Spann of Spann & Associates, Dr. Mike Thompson of ProHealth Care Regional Cancer Center, Anna Zuckerman of AC Zuckerman Jeweler, Inc., Heather Williams of Summit Young Professionals, Monica Oliver of WE Energies, Makisha Porter of The Capital Grille, Laura Murphy of GE Healthcare, and Vlad Ivankovic, Honorary Man of the Year Candidate.   • Thursday, June 14 The Better Business Bureau Center for Character Ethics will host a seminar on Tips for Building Donor Trust. Ran Hoth, president and chief executive officer of the BBB will provide insight for building trust by sharing relevant stories sure to challenge thinking and provide inspiration. The event will be held at the Italian Conference Center, 631 E. Chicago St., from 11:15 to 1:30 p.m. Cost to attend is $25 for AFP members and $45 for non-members if registered before Friday, June 8.   • Thursday, June 14 Danceworks Inc., will host the 4th annual Mad Hot Celebration at La Lune Collection, 930 E. Burleigh St., from 7 to 10 p.m. The Mad Hot Celebration celebrates another successful year of Danceworks Mad Hot Ballroom and Tap program, which this year brought needed arts education to approximately 2,200 4th-6th graders from 43 Milwaukee schools. The fundraiser features winning dancers of the 2012 MHBT Competition, which was held on May 12 at the Bradley Center, as well as an Opportunity Raffle of fabulous arts and entertainment packages, including unique Danceworks experiences. Hosts for the evening are Mario and Cathy Costantini, with event sponsor La Lune Collection. Cocktail fare for the evening provided by Antigua Mexican and Latin Restaurant.   • Friday, June 15 Join Easter Seals Southeast Wisconsin at Polish Fest for its 6th Annual Walk With Me event. Attendees can enjoy free admission to Polish fest and an evening filled with fun just by registering for the walk. Children age 15 and under will also be admitted free to Polish Fest. Registration begins at 5:00 p.m. at the main gate of the festival. Then proceed to the Potawatomi stage for the pre-walk entertainment. The 1 mile family fun walk will take place along the beautiful scenery of Lake Michigan’s Lakefront and Lakeshore State Park at 6:30 p.m. Money raised through this event will be used to provide direct services for individuals with special needs.   • Tuesday, June 26 The Wisconsin Nonprofits Association in partnership with the Helen Bader Institute for Nonprofit Management at UW-Milwaukee and the school of continuing education at UW-Eau Claire will host a seminar entitled Protect Your Tax Exempt Status- Special IRS Workshop for Nonprofits. The workshop will be presented by experienced IRS Exempt Organization Specialists and will explain what 501(c)(3) organizations must do to keep their tax-exempt status and comply with tax obligations. This workshop is recommended for anyone new to the nonprofit sector, new to their agency or looking for a refresher course on the fundamentals of complying with IRS standards for small and mid-size tax exempt 501(c)(3) organizations. Registration is $50 and includes workshop materials and lunch. The workshop will be held at UW-Milwaukee Union from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Click here to register.
  • Friday, July 20 Timber-lee Christian Center will host its 15th Invitational Golf Outing at Grand Geneva Golf Club, 7036 Grand Geneva Way in Lake Geneva. The outing will benefit Urban Camp, Science Education Center and Scholarship Programs at the Center. Registration will begin at 12 p.m. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. on the course followed by dinner and a live and silent auction. A special video-taped message from Green Bay Quarterback Aaron Rodgers will also be featured. Cost to attend is $150 a person for golf and dinner. Tickets to the dinner only are $35 a person.
