  • Wednesday, March 7 The Milwaukee Kickers will host a fundraising event at the new Splash Studio painting bar in the Historic Third Ward from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. Guests will learn to create their masterpieces while enjoying a glass of beer, wine or soda. Splash founder and president Marla Hahn is generously hosting the  pre-grand opening event especially for the Milwaukee Kickers. Tickets are $35 and include three hours of studio time, paint supplies including smock, paint instruction, cleanup, one complimentary drink and your masterpiece to take home with you at the end of the night. All of the evening’s ticket proceeds will be donated to the Milwaukee Kickers.  To register, contact Tammy today at tammygr@mksc.org.
  • Thursday, March 8 The Milwaukee Center for Independence Professional Conference Series is presenting “Toxic Stress in Childhood: The impact on brain development of young children” from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the MCFI Conference Center, 2020 W. Wells St., Milwaukee. Presenters will discuss the emotional, behavioral and physical effects of profound, consistent stress in early childhood, as well as intervention strategies for addressing toxic stress. Presenters are Deborah McNelis early brain specialist and owner of Brain Insights, LLC, and Dr. Veronica Gunn, medical director, Community Services, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. David Cipriano, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin will provide opening remarks. The registration fee is $35 per person, including a continental breakfast and materials.   • Saturday, March 10 Friedens Community Ministries will host the Strike Out Hunger Bowl-A-Thon at AMF Bowlero Lanes, 11737 W Burleigh St, Wauwatosa, starting at 2pm.  Proceeds will help stock the organization’s three emergency food pantries around.  The cost is $15.00 per person cash or pledges and $90.00 for a team of 6. The fee includes shoes and refreshments.  There will be 50/50 raffles and prizes for highest scoring teams and individuals.  Visit www.friedenspantry.org for more information. 
  • Thursday, March 15 The Association of Fundraising Professionals will host an AFP Breakfast on Donor Identity: Prospect Research at 7:30 a.m. at the Italian Community center, 631 E.   • Wednesday, March 21 Wine Not? A 2012 wine tasting event to benefit the Guest House of Milwaukee will take place at Discovery World from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The tasting will feature various wines provided by Sendik’s and gourmet appetizers provided by Bartolotta Restaurant Group. Cost to attend is $75 a person, funds will go directly to programs and services to help homeless and formerly homeless individuals in Milwaukee.   • Thursday, March 29 The Brewers Community Foundation will host the ninth annual AWEAR fashion show to benefit Sojourner Family Peace Center, a nonprofit organization that provides education, advocacy and resources throughout Milwaukee to break the cycle of family violence. The event will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Harley-Davidson Museum. The event begins with a cocktail reception and food stations in the Rumble Room. During this time, guests can participate in the designer purse raffle, wine pull and silent auction. The main program, which will be emceed by WISN-TV Channel 12’s Mark Baden, begins at 7:45 p.m. in the Garage. The fun includes a live auction led by Wisconsin Foodie host Kyle Cherek, a live performance from the nationally recognized Milwaukee R&B artist Cincere and an energetic runway fashion show featuring looks from seven area retailers: Five Hearts, Goldi, Macy’s, m.e. Lou, Molloy’s, Picardy Shoe Parlour and Simon Oliver.
    Local media personalities Jen Lada of Fox 6 and Meg McKenzie of WRIT will be joined on the runway by Cincere, District 4 Alderman Robert Bauman and Cecelia Gore of the Brewers Community Foundation. Individual tickets are $95. Exclusive runway tables, featuring premier seating for four and complimentary champagne, are available for $700.
