  • Tuesday, April 12 United Way in Waukesha County’s Volunteer Center will host its annual ‘Inspire by Example’ Volunteer Recognition and Celebration Luncheon on at Country Springs Hotel and Resort, 2810 Golf Road in Pewaukee, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.The ‘Inspire by Example’ Recognition luncheon will feature stories of outstanding volunteerism throughout Waukesha County.  Cost to attend is $40 per person or $400 for nonprofit table of ten or $500 for corporate table of ten.   • Thursday, April 14 Hannah’s Hope Foundation and The Compassionate Friends will host a fundraising event at American Serb Hall, 5101 W, Oklahoma Ave., from 6 to 10 p.m. The event will direct sale vendors including: Pampered Chef, Lia Sophia, Michi Bag, Scentsy,Tastefully Simple, Party Lite Candles, Mary Kay, Tuppaware and more.  Raffle drawings for a Schwinn exercise bike, a LCD TV, a Dooney & Bourke Purse and cash will also be held. All proceeds from the event will benefit Wisconsin Walk for Hope, a memorial walk for families who have lost children.   • Saturday, April 16 The Men of Tomorrow, a charitable youth organization, will hold its annual clothing drive at St. Mark A.M.E. on 16th St. and Atkinson Ave., from 8a.m. to 4 p.m. All donations are tax deductible and go to help Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc. Men of Tomorrow’s mission is to prepare young African American and other minority males for successful transition from youth to adulthood by helping them develop awareness and skills based on economic, social, cultural and spiritual components.
  • Sunday, April 17 St. Marcus School will host an all-you-can-eat Spaghetti buffet and Silent Auction on from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the school, located at 2215 N. Palmer St in Milwaukee. Proceeds raised from this event will support Discover America, a 12 day “school without walls” integrated experiential educational approach. A curriculum of St. Marcus School that stimulates learning and culminates in travel to the areas studied. The program is designed to introduce urban 5th through 8th grade students to the world around them. Students visit colleges, National Parks and Institutes, historic sites, and engage in active hands-on learning with experts in a variety of professions. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5 to 12. Children under 4 are free. Tickets can be purchased the day of the event.   • Tuesday, April 19 The Wisconsin Philharmonic will present its season finale concert. “The Ultimate Romantics,” featuring the talented pianist Andrew Armstrong the Oconomowoc Arts Center,  The concert will feature works from three of the greatest Romantic composers – Tchaikovsky, Liszt, and Chopin. Select students who were chosen from The Philharmonic’s Shining Stars Competition will perform alongside Philharmonic musicians for Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet.  During the concert, The Wisconsin Philharmonic will also collect non-perishable food items for donation to the Oconomowoc Food Pantry.  Ticket prices for the concert range from $25 to $35 depending on seating.   • Thursday, April 28, CORE/El Centro will celebrate its anniversary event, CORE Momentum at the Marian Center, 3211 S. Lake Drive, St. Francis, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will feature hors d’oeuvres and beverages, a wine pull and wine tasting, silent auction and performance art, and a presentation of awards.  Tickets are $50; reserved tables of 8 available for $500.  For ticket information call Pat at 414-384-2673, ext. 13.  Proceeds from CORE Momentum will be used to increase access to healing services, build community, and inspire individuals to wholeness.
  • Thursday, May 5 the 6th Annual Pearls of Wisdom Benefit Dinner and Fundraiser to benefit Interfaith Milwaukee will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel Milwaukee from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy the comedic talents of Dylan Bolin who will emcee the event and auctioneer the evening. Bolin is a local comedian who regularly performs at ComedySportz in Milwaukee. The evening begins at 5:30 with a cocktail reception, silent auction, and several FUNdraiser stations. A formal dinner will be served; followed by a live auction. Proceeds from the event will support services provided to the community by Interfaith Older Adult Programs.   • Thursday, May 12, the Center for Communication, Hearing & Deafness will host its eighth annual Gardens Luncheon at the Woman’s Club of Wisconsin from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. “Birds, Butterflies & Blossoms” will feature gardening expert Melinda Myers and emcee Tiffany Ogle, co-host of The Morning Blend.  All proceeds support children’s programs at the Center, to help children with hearing loss develop critical language and literacy skills. Stay after the luncheon for a special 30 minute Q & A with Melinda or to purchase an autographed copy of one of her books. Tickets are $65 each and tables seat 8.  Tickets can be purchased online at www.cchdwi.org or by calling 414-604-2200.  Interpreting and real-time captioning will be provided. 
  • Saturday, May 21 Stillwaters Cancer Support Services along with honorary chair Joe Bartolotta will host the first ever Hospital Food Fight at the Tommy G. Thompson Center, 640 S. 84th St., West Allis from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The ‘Iron-Chef-Type” competition will feature head chefs from area hospitals as they compete for the title of Best Hospital Food in Wisconsin. Restaurants, grocers and hospitals will provide food and beverage samples as refreshments. Ted Perry of Fox 6 News will emcee the event. Cost to attend is $35 before May 4.
