*Friday, Nov. 16, the City of Glendale and Bayshore Town Center will host and present the 7th annual tree lighting ceremony in Bayshore’s Town Square, 5800 N. Bayshore Dr., Suite A256 in Glendale. The tree lighting will be held at 6 p.m., and the free event will also include a performance by the Florentine Opera, a performance by the Milwaukee Ballet, horse-drawn carriage rides from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., samples from area restaurants and businesses, and a visit from Santa Claus. *Saturday, Nov. 17, the Milwaukee Art Museum will host a free concert in Windhover Hall from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The concert will feature The Painted Caves with “primitive music for modern machines.” The Milwaukee Art Museum is located at 700 N. *Friday, Nov. 23, the 22nd annual World’s Greatest Cookie Sale will take place from noon to 4 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Country Springs Hotel, 2810 Golf Rd. in Pewaukee. The sale will feature tens of thousands of homemade holiday cookies from more than 25 nonprofit organizations. Sale money will directly benefit the nonprofits. The event will also include holiday music, an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus, magic shows, and cookie and cupcake decorating. Admission and parking are free for participants. *Saturday, Nov. 24, Open Canvas, a silent auction event presented by Good Knight, features more than 80 live artists painting works to be sold to guests. The event honors the memory of William Joel Kursel, who led a successful advertising career with inspiration from art and creativity. The event is scheduled to run from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Pritzlaff Building, 333 N. Plankinton in Milwaukee, and will also include food and hors d’oeuvres from more than 20 restaurants. Advance tickets cost $50 per person and must be purchased by Saturday, Nov. 17. Tickets at the door cost $55. Space is limited. All proceeds will go toward scholarships from The Eisner and MIAD. *Saturday, Dec. 1, Advanced Waste Services will host an e-waste recycling drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Washington Park, Martin Drive and Vilet Street neighborhoods. The drive will be held at Advanced Waste Services’ 3801 McKinley Ave. location in Milwaukee and will collect used televisions, computers, light bulbs and batteries among other electronics and qualifying materials.
