*Friday, Nov. 30, Arté, a wine and painting studio in Wauwatosa, will host Party 4 Good in support of the Hunger Task Force. The benefit celebration, scheduled to run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., will feature live music and hundreds of paintings for sale created by the studio’s artists. Individual paintings will start at $20, and all proceeds will support the Hunger Task Force. Arté will also collect nonperishable food items to donate to the Hunger Task Force, and those who donate will be able to take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the village of Wauwatosa where the village’s tree lighting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Arté is located at 7511 Harwood Ave. in Wauwatosa. *Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1, JB’s on 41, a new bowling center, will hold the “Strikes for Tikes Grand Opening Celebration.” The family-friendly celebration will feature a live karaoke band, discounts on food and bowling, galactic bowling, face painting, prizes and more. The event will also feature a “Strikes for Tikes” charity initiative in partnership with Toys for Tots. For each strike bowled during the opening celebration, JB’s on 41 will donate funds toward the purchase of toys for kids in need throughout the holidays. Attendees can also bring new or gently used toys to donate to the initiative. In return, they will receive a bowling discount coupon redeemable during the holiday season. *Friday, Nov. 30, and Sunday, Dec. 2, The Milwaukee Area Messiah Community Chorus and Orchestra will perform Handel’s Messiah at two churches in southeastern Wisconsin. On Nov. 30, the ecumenical volunteer chorus will come together for a performance at St. Gabriel Parish, 1200 Saint Gabriel Way in Hubertus, at 7:30 p.m. On Dec. 2, the chorus will perform at Crossroads Presbyterian Church, 6031 W. Chapel Hill Rd. in Mequon, at 3 p.m. Doors will open 30 minutes before each show. The fourth annual concerts are free and open to the public. *Saturday, Dec. 1, Advanced Waste Services will host the 2012 Home Electronics Recycling Event from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Washington Park, Martin Drive and Vilet Street neighborhoods. The drive will be held at Advanced Waste Services’ 3801 W. McKinley Ave. location in Milwaukee and will collect used televisions, computers, light bulbs and batteries among other electronics and qualifying materials. *Wednesday, Dec. 5, BoardStar, Inc. will host a workshop focused on “Legacy Gifts: Are You Missing Out?” The workshop will cover strategies to help nonprofits in developing donor relationships and asking for financial contributions, particularly final bequests. Participants will learn specifically how a nonprofit organization’s board of directors can structure a planned giving program to ensure a nonprofit’s sustainability. The workshop will be held at Pathfinders, 4200 N. Holton, Suite 400 in Milwaukee, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $35 for BoardStar members and $50 for nonmembers. *Thursday, Dec. 6, The Healing Center will host its fourth annual Hope Shining Gala in honor of community members impacted by sexual violence. The gala will include a silent auction, live music and speeches from some of the individuals it serves. It will also award Linda Davis and Sally Turner, two founding mothers of The Healing Center, for their efforts. The event will be held in the Bradley Pavilion of the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, 929 N. Water St. in Milwaukee, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets cost $70 per person and are available at www.aurora.org/healingcenterhopeshining.
