  • Friday, Sept. 14, Special Olympics Wisconsin invites the public to watch 60 participants rappel down the side of The City Center, 735 N. Water Street, starting at 9 a.m. Each participant raised at least $1,000 for Special Olympics Wisconsin and will rappel down 17 stories with assistance from professional staff.   • Saturday, Sept. 15, Yoga @ the Museum will take place in Windhover Hall at the Milwaukee Art Museum, 700 N. Art Museum Drive in Milwaukee, from 8:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Doors open at 7:45 a.m. The monthly yoga class, presented by the museum and omTownYogis, welcomes all levels. Each participant must bring their own mat. Pre-registration is preferred and is available until 5 p.m. on Friday. Walk-ins are accepted, depending on space.   • Saturday, Sept 15, the 35th annual Briggs & Al’s Run & Walk will take place in downtown Milwaukee. The 8k for runners kicks off at 10:30 a.m. Wheelchair participants will start the course at 10:15 a.m. and walkers will follow the runners with an option of a 3- or 5-mile route. All start at 12th Street and Wisconsin Avenue at Marquette University. Cost is $30 for runners and wheelchair racers, $25 for walkers, $15 for child runners up to age 12, and $10 for child walkers. Proceeds will benefit the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Each participant will receive an event t-shirt and is welcome at a finish line celebration at the Henry Maier Festival Park, 200 N. Harbor Drive in Milwaukee. Top runners will be awarded with medals. For registration and event details, visit events.chw.org.
  • Saturday, Sept. 15, Marcus Theatres will host a special showing of Finding Nemo as part of its “Reel Movies for Real Needs” series, which caters toward special-needs children and their families. The movie, presented in 2D, will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Marcus Theatres including North Shore Cinema in Mequon and South Shore Cinema in Oak Creek. Cost is standard matinee prices for children and adults. The film series is sponsored by Variety – The Children’s Charity of Wisconsin and Best Buddies Wisconsin.   • Saturday, Sept. 15, Rock the Green’s second annual music festival will offer music lovers a concert featuring artists like Third Eye Blind, Metric, Switchfoot, Imagine Dragons, Atlas Genius, and Morning Parade. The festival will also focus on sustainability efforts and will take measures like recycling, composting, using paperless tickets and using LED lighting to ensure near-zero waste. The concert will take place at Veteran’s Park in Milwaukee from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. General admission tickets can be purchased online for $30 or at the gate for $40.   • Sunday, Sept. 16, through Saturday, Sept. 22, Share Our Strength’s Dine Out for No Kid Hungry fundraiser will be held to benefit Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign. The national campaign works to provide kids in need with nutritious food and educate families about cooking and buying healthy, affordable food. More than 8,000 restaurants across the country are participating in the fundraiser by offering No Kid Hungry promotions.   • Friday, Sept. 21, Meta House, Inc. will host a Meta Moments lunch and discussion focused on “Prevention Works, Treatment is Effective, People Recover.” Scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. at Meta House Residential Facility, 2626 N. Bremen Street in Milwaukee, the lunch will honor September as National Recovery Month and will feature two Meta House graduates and a clinical staff member who will share their stories and perspectives on substance abuse.   • Sunday, Sept. 23, the 14th annual Komen Southeast Wisconsin Race for the Cure will take place at Milwaukee’s lakefront. Presented by Kohl’s Cares and chaired by Joe and Jennifer Bartolotta, the race raises funds to help find a cure for breast cancer. The race offers a 5K route and a 1.4 mile route, and both begin at 9:15 a.m. Team registration is closed, but individuals may still register online, at the Pettit Center or on race day. Race fees vary by adult and children and method of registration. Donations are also still being accepted.
