Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon, was recently ranked #32 for online MBA programs, by MBAOnline. Selections are based on factors of affordability, design and efficiency of the program, flexibility, program completion time, graduation rates, academic excellence and availability of resource. In other news, the college moved its office of Continuing and Distance Education off the main campus. The e-learning center is now located at 1009 W. Glen Oaks, Suite 202, in Mequon.

Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa will open a newly remodeled Foot Locker in early June. The “House of Hoops,” location is a store-within-a-store concept for Nike Basketball products, including apparel, exclusive footwear, and limited edition performance shoes and accessories.

Two local hardware store owners have joined Oak Brook Ill.-based Ace Hardware. Harry Gil, has a store in Franklin and Perry Hahn, has a store in Hartford. Both of the men have worked in hardware stores since they were young men. Ace Hardware operates 4,600 locally owned and operated stores across the world.

BUYSEASONS Inc., New Berlin, a distributor of costumes and party supplies, received a Workplace Diversity Award at the third annual Wisconsin Seasonal Workforce Coalition Luncheon on June 12 at Café Rouge, in the Pfister Hotel, Milwaukee.

Froedtert and The Medical College of Wisconsin Breast Care Center announced a three-year accreditation renewal by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. The breast center achieved a perfect score on all 27 NAPBC performance standards of proficiency including: center leadership, clinical care, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement.

The Medical College of Wisconsin is partnering with Primorigen Biosciences Inc., a Madison-based stem cell company, to optimize technology that transforms adult stem cells into nerve cells capable of restoring nerve function for therapeutic use. Primorigen has been awarded a $344,000 Small Business Innovation Research grant from the National Institutes of Health. The long term goal of the project is to develop new therapies to treat neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, as well as spinal cord injury. The project will be led by Arshak R. Alexanian, Ph. D., V.M.D., associate professor of neurosurgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin; and Brad Garcia, Ph.D., Director of Technology and Business Development at Primorigen.

Milwaukee-based public relations firm Zeppos & Associates has received the national Silver Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). The Silver Anvil award recognizes outstanding achievement in strategic public relations planning and implementation. Zeppos received the award in the category of Public Affairs for a campaign that helped a developer gain public support and secure approval to build a $50 million Mariott hotel on a site of old, vacant and deteriorating buildings in downtown Milwaukee.
