New sandwich shop planned in West Allis

Would offer carry-out only

Bonita’s would open in the former Uncle Ned’s Antiques shop at 1412 S. 73rd St.

A new take-out sandwich shop, called Bonita’s, could open soon in West Allis.

The concept would take the former Uncle Ned’s Antiques space in the ground floor of a 95-year-old structure know as the Greenfield Building, located at 1412 S. 73rd St.

Bonita’s would serve ready-made subs and deli-style sandwiches, soft drinks and chips, according to plans submitted to the West Allis Plan Commission. The restaurant would offer counter service, but no seating.

Bonita’s owner Fernando Walker plans to lease the entire 2,200-square-foot ground floor for the eatery, but likely will use only a portion of the space, according to the proposal. Bonita’s would be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The city’s Plan Commission will review Walker’s plans during a March 27 meeting.

Plans have also been proposed for Branch Life Center to occupy the 2,084-square-foot second floor of the Greenfield Building.
