New restaurant planned for former Good Life space

Leslie Montemurro, Scott Johnson and Kristyn St. Denis, operating as 1935 Water LLC, recently purchased the 2,851-square-foot former Good Life restaurant building at 1935 N. Water St., Milwaukee, for $615,000, or $228 per square foot.

Montemurro and Johnson also own Balzac, Comet, Fuel, Hi-Hat and Palomino.

They plan to open a California-style cantina restaurant called Bel Air Cantina in the former Good Life building. The menu will include: ahi tuna tacos, burritos, salads and tamales.

Bel Air Cantina is expected to open in September.

Good Life closed in November of 2009. The owners of the restaurant said their business was adversley affected by the lengthy Humboldt Bridge reconstruction project, which was recently completed.
