GE Healthcare president and CEO John Flannery noted the health care markets in the United States are “incredibly competitive” and said Cooper has been “a champion for our customers” during his time with the company.

“We have selected a proven leader who will continue Marcelo’s legacy of being nimble and focused on innovating around our customers’ needs,” Flannery said in the company’s November announcement of the move.

Mosci will be retiring from GE on April 1 after 16 years with the company.

Defense contract option exercised
GE Healthcare also got good news Tuesday as the Department of Defense posted notice that the company had been awarded a maximum $43.2 million modification on a contract for patient monitoring systems.

The department exercised the seventh one-year option on a contract with nine one-year option periods. The location for contract performance is listed as Wisconsin and the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and federal civilian agencies will be using the services.
