New Berlin-based ECM Industries has acquired electrical staples manufacturer Briscon Electric Manufacturing Corp. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. ECM Industries is a global manufacturer and supplier of electrical products for construction and maintenance, irrigation and landscape, and supply and gas utility markets. Briscon provides products to electricians and do it yourselfers through both the wholesale and home center channels. The company is headquartered in Auburn, Massachusetts. “The acquisition of Briscon adds to our already leading portfolio of electrical staple products to provide the broadest offering in the industry,” said Mike Masino, chief executive officer, ECM Industries. “They are a prime manufacturer of zinc plated staples, stainless steel staples, plastic insulated staples and conduit straps. This expanded offering allows us to better serve areas with code compliances and regionality preference. ECM is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the continued market expansion in the residential and industrial electrical staple category.” ECM Industries has over 1,500 employees globally. Briscon will add around 50 employees at their Auburn headquarters following the acquisition. The company will continue to operate their sales, manufacturing and customer support functions from their Auburn facility. David Wiesemann, ECM Industries vice president of product development and marketing, said the company does not plan for any other significant staffing changes. Wiesemann said product lines will be managed by ECM Industries’ existing product management team and operations team. No branding/name changes are planned following the acquisition. “Briscon has a well-known and well-respected name in the electrical industry, so we do not plan for any name/brand changes. In fact, we want to leverage their brand by adding adjacent items to their portfolio,” Wiesemann said. ECM Industries was acquired back in 2019 by New York-based private equity firm Sentinel Capital Partners. Prior to the acquisition, ECM Industries relocated from Menomonee Falls to a larger facility in New Berlin designed to support future growth.
