A new bar restaurant has been proposed near Milwaukee’s Walker’s Point neighborhood.

The concept, called Love’s on Tap, is slated for a May 1 opening at 201 W. Mitchell St. It would take over the ground floor space of a two-story, 130-year-old building that currently houses night club Bamboo Lounge.

According to a license application filed with the City of Milwaukee, Love’s on Tap is listed under Elizabeth Torres. She will operate the bar with her fiancé, Monte Love, said building owner McArthur Love, who is Monte’s father. Torres could not be immediately reached for comment.

Love’s on Tap would serve alcohol and roll out a small food menu, according to the license application. It would also include entertainment such as live music, DJs, dancing and karaoke.

The 2,080-square-foot space fits about 89 people, said McArthur Love. Outdoor seating would be available on the patio located along the building’s south side.

Renovations planned for the space include sanding the floors and painting, which would be complete by mid-April.
