Wahlburgers, the Hingham, Mass.-based burger chain owned by chef Paul Wahlberg in partnership with his two brothers, actors Mark and Donnie, is coming to The Corners of Brookfield later this year.
Wahlburgers is slated to open this summer in a 6,000-square-foot space on the northeast side of the shopping center, located at 20111 W. Bluemound Road in the Town of Brookfield.
It will serve house-made signature burgers, sandwiches, salads and sides and specialty drinks, including adult frappes and floats.
The new restaurant will be the company’s first Wisconsin franchise location, and the fourth to be operated by West Des Moines, Iowa-based supermarket chain Hy-Vee Inc.
“Hy-Vee is excited to open its fourth Wahlburgers location, and to bring a new dining experience to Wisconsin,” said Randy Edeker, chairman of the board, CEO and president of Hy-Vee. “Families will enjoy great food in a fun atmosphere, served with the excellent customer service and hospitality that Hy-Vee and Wahlburgers are known for.”
The company, which operates 245 retail stores in eight Midwestern states, announced plans in 2017 to build, own and operate 26 Wahlburgers franchises, with the first three opening in 2018 in Minnesota, Iowa, and Kansas.
Wahlburgers currently operates 29 locations in 19 states and Canada.
“We’re thrilled to be chosen as the first Wahlburgers location in Wisconsin,” said Robert Gould, vice president of U.S. operations for The Corners’ developer IM Properties. “Wahlburgers’ food and drink offerings and fun, upbeat environment make it the perfect addition to our tenant mix. 2019 is shaping up to be an exciting year for The Corners, and restaurants like Wahlburgers will continue to deliver our unique town center vision.”
Despite the challenges facing brick-and-mortar retail, The Corners, which opened in 2017, has managed to secure a roster of both local and national tenants including Von Maur, BelAir Cantina, Goddess & The Baker, Kendra Scott, Fresh Fin Poke and Lululemon Athletica.
Recent additions include Improv, a national comedy club that will open an entertainment venue in early 2020, and Lake Country Social, a new three-story restaurant, bar and rooftop lounge that will open next summer.
In addition, Sendik’s is currently expanding its store at The Corners to include a mezzanine level lounge and dining and bar offerings.
