Multi-Color to close Watertown plant

Multi-Color Corp. will be closing its Watertown facility and laying off 58 employees, according to a WARN notice filed yesterday with the state.

The Batavia, Ohio-based firm, which prints labels for consumer products, will begin shutting down operations immediately and expects most employees will be terminated around January 5, 2015. The facility is located at 1222 Perry Way.

The affected employees are not represented by a union and don’t have bumping rights. They will be paid all earned wages and agreed upon benefits upon termination.

Multi-Color has 14 other U.S. locations, including a plant in Green Bay. It has 19 international locations.

Company representatives could not be reached for comment regarding the closure.
