U.S. Bank will host How to Protect Your Business Against the Newest Threats on Monday, Oct. 20, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Harley-Davidson Museum, 500 W. Canal St. in Milwaukee. Jeff Lanza, retired FBI agent, will discuss how to guard against external threats, internal fraud and cyber crime. Jannsen + Co. will host a Human Resources Laws Update on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at its offices, W239 N3490 Pewaukee Road  in Pewaukee. The event will explain major employment laws and how they impact small and mid-sized businesses, and give updates on any changes to those laws. Cost is $25. RSVP to info@jannsen.com.

The Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance will host Milwaukee Chapter AFWA Student Night 2014 on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel Milwaukee West, 2303 N. Mayfair Road in Wauwatosa. All accounting students are invited to attend to network with local businesses regarding career paths and employment opportunities. Special agent Wipperfurth will give a presentation on careers with the FBI, and several raffles will also be held. Cost is $5 for students, $20 for AFWA members and $25 for guests.
