Modine rolls out new commercial ventilation system

Organizations:

Racine-based Modine Manufacturing Co. has introduced its new 15 to 30 ton commercial packaged ventilation system with optional energy recovery, designed for energy efficiency, easy installation and long life in commercial applications including hotels, big box retail stores and educational facilities.

The system’s optional energy recovery system uses waste energy from the building to raise the temperature of incoming air, which can translate into significant energy savings, said Matt McBurney, director of the company’s commercial products group.

“When you’re bringing in all this air… you’re also exhausting a lot of air to keep the building at the right pressure,” he said. “That air has energy in it. We’re running that air through an energy recovery wheel before we put it into the open environment, which can reduce the load on the equipment by half.”

All of the testing and development for the new units was done at Modine’s headquarters in Racine. The units are being built in its production facility in Virginia.

Several of the new ventilation systems are in the field now for final testing, McBurney said. The system will be available to customers later this year.
