The companies would not disclose the acquisition price.

Associated Technical Services is a sound and security system integrator that designs, installs and services customized security access control and CCTV video systems. Southern Musicast designs, installs and services sound for public spaces, such as elevators and health care facilities.

Both companies were founded and led by David and Charles Janzer, who will stay on with the companies in non-leadership roles. The companies had three employees when they were acquired, and Alarm Systems has already added three more, with plans to grow to nine employees in the next 60 days, said Ronald Haught, Jr., president and chief executive officer of Alarm Systems. Among the roles being filled are general manager and sales and technical positions.

“We should have between 15 and 18 people before the end of the year operate out of that facility,” Haught said.

The companies will retain their business names in the transaction, but will be rebranded by Alarm Systems, Haught said.

The acquisition allows Alarm Systems, which has offices in Quincy, Illinois and Columbia, Missouri, to expand into Wisconsin and tap into underserved markets, he said. Alarm Systems is a national Honeywell authorized security dealer for both residential and commercial clients.

“We have a need to be there,” Haught said. “I have national customers there in Wisconsin and in northern Illinois, so Milwaukee was just a good geographical area.”

The ATS acquisition will also expand Alarm Systems’ product offerings. It previously dealt exclusively with Honeywell products.

“We have some very substantial projects that are to the point of being closed but have not been closed yet, and some of those deals will facilitate additional employees,” Haught said.
