Milwaukee school bus company and food plant in Bristol announce layoffs

Cincinnati-based First Student Inc. plans to eliminate 80 jobs in Milwaukee and Delphos, Ohio-based Lakeview Farms LLC plans to close its plant in Bristol, putting 150 employees out of work there, according to the state Department of Workforce Development.

First Student Inc. is a school bus transportation provider. The company said it needs to reduce its employment at 4150 W. Mitchell St., Milwaukee, because Milwaukee Public Schools decided to reduce the number of MPS school bus routes for First Student in the 2014-15 school year.

Lakeview Farms, a manufacturer of sour cream, dips and desserts, will close its plant at 19241 83rd St. in Bristol, with layoffs beginning in August and continuing until January of 2015 when closure of the plant will be complete.
