Milwaukee issues RFP for site near airport

The City of Milwaukee on Tuesday issued a request for proposals (RFP) seeking developers that want to purchase and develop a 24.6-acre property at 1701 E. College Ave., near General Mitchell International Airport. The site is a former landfill, located southwest of College Avenue and the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad tracks. The city’s asking price for the property is $740,000, and city officials have indicated that industrial development on the site would be preferred. The property is located within the airport’s height restriction zone, so any buildings there must be less than 35 feet tall. Responses to the RFP are due on Aug. 8.
