Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity ReStore will host a “Stock the Store” donation drive throughout February to add to the ReStore’s inventory before the official opening of its second location on Saturday, March 2.
The ReStore accepts donations of overstocked, used, new or discounted building and household items from retailers, manufacturers, contractors and community residents and sells those items to the public at a reduced cost. Proceeds from the ReStore contribute to Habitat’s efforts to build affordable housing in Milwaukee.
“Our ReStores add incredible value not only to our community but also to Habitat for Humanity,” said Brian Sonderman, executive director of Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity. “Their financial support continues to help Habitat grow and serve more deserving families in need right here in Milwaukee.”
Habitat’s ReStores collect items like furniture, cabinets, appliances and building supplies.
In addition to enhancing Habitat’s housing initiatives in Milwaukee, the establishment of the second ReStore location, at 420 S. 1st St. in Milwaukee, will offer businesses and community members a place to recycle items they no longer need instead of throwing them in landfills.
The “Stock the Store” donation drive will begin Saturday, Feb. 2, at 10 a.m. Donations can be dropped off at the new ReStore or the first location, 3015 N. 114th St. in Wauwatosa, Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Scheduled pick-ups for larger donations can also be arranged by contacting volunteer coordinator Katie Krebsbach at 414-257-9078 ex. 12. All donations are tax-deductible.
