Milwaukee County to buy West Allis warehouse

Milwaukee County officials plan to purchase a 50,000-square-foot warehouse at 10920 W. Lapham St., West Allis, for $2 million.

The county plans to move its facility maintenance operations from 10310 W. Watertown Plank Road, Wauwatosa, to the West Allis building.

The move is necessary because the Wauwatosa building will be torn down for the Zoo Interchange project, said Brendan Conway, spokesman for Milwaukee County Executive Brendan Conway. The state DOT is compensating the county for the relocation and will provide the funds to buy the West Allis building, he said.
