Milwaukee area school referenda among those rejected

Several southeastern Wisconsin school referenda were among the $200 million in additional spending voters rejected Tuesday.
Eighteen of the 37 school referendums were shot down.
The largest spending initiative, an $83.5 million measure in Racine, failed, along with two smaller referendums in that district. Other large referendums rejected by voters fell in River Falls and Johnson Creek.
Just two of the 10 most expensive referendums passed: the second-largest request, worth nearly $52 million, in Eau Claire; and a $13.6 million referendum in Shorewood.
Voters approved a total of $82.7 million in school referendums.
