Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, in cooperation with We Energies, will present Field of Honor: A Salute to the Greatest Generation at Miller Park on Saturday, Aug. 11.
The once-in-a-generation event will bring together thousands of World War II veterans and veterans from other conflicts, their families, friends and communities. The event will feature the world premiere of the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight documentary on the Miller Park High-Definition Video Board and special viewing of the official model of the W.W. II Memorial on loan before going to the Smithsonian.
World War II veterans are dying at the rate of 1 every 90 seconds. Stars and Stripes Honor Flight (SSHF) is in a race against the clock to honor them. Two more Honor Flights will happen this spring on April 28 and June 2, taking another 330 veterans to see their memorials in Washington.
All net proceeds from Field of Honor will ensure that the Honor Flights continue this fall. There are currently 475 veterans on the SSHF wait list.
Tickets are $11 per person and are available at www.starsandstripeshonorflight.org.
