What has fueled your company’s growth?

Millennium’s growth can be attributed to three main factors: a team of aggressive individuals with backgrounds in sales, engineering, construction and finance; the implementation of specific processes that have withstood the test of rapid growth; and the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.

What is the biggest obstacle to your company’s growth?

As with any business, Millennium has to work hard to balance growth and cashflow. With the economy being down for the past couple of years, we have been able to consistently grow our sales and profits, but it’s been harder for our customers to pay within terms. Millennium’s growth has primarily been financed through the reinvestment of profits and one of the biggest hurdles we face is keeping our receivables current to allow future growth.

Do you plan any changes in your company in the upcoming months?

At Millennium, we continually assess processes, inventory, facilities and team members to make sure we are operating efficiently.

Who are the business people, locally or nationally, whom you admire? And what traits do those people exhibit that make you admire them?

Within our industry I have always looked up to and admired LeRoy Carlson, the founder of TDS Telecom. They started as a small company with a few locations in Wisconsin with sights set on acquiring other companies and growing the business.

What is the outlook for the business conditions of your industry over the next several months?

The outlook for business conditions in the communications and electrical industry is optimistic. There is a race between industry goliaths like AT&Tand smaller operators like TDS and Midwest Fiber Networks to deploy higher bandwidth services to end users to provide the next generation of services, including video and managed IP services.
