Chicago-based Bradford Real Estate Companies has hired Mid-America Real Estate Group as the leasing agent for The Corners, a $200 million mixed-use development that will include 600,000 square feet of retail space in the Town of Brookfield.

The project began five years ago when Milwaukee-based Marcus Corp. first unveiled plans for The Corners in 2011, at the southeast corner of Barker Road and Bluemound Road, construction is now well underway and an opening date has been set for April 8, 2017.

Twigs, an upscale boutique located in Madison, will open its second Wisconsin location in The Corners and Lululemon Athletica will  move from its temporary location in Brookfield at 18000 W. Blue Mound Road into the development, said Chris Speciale, vice president of leasing with Bradford.

Another 10 to 12 leases are pending and will be announced before the International Council of Shopping Centers in Las Vegas in May, Speciale said.

“A lot of work still has to be done before the opening date,” said Dan Rosenfeld, of Mid-America Real Estate Group.

The Corners will be anchored by a 142,000-square-foot Von Maur, Inc., an upscale department store based in Davenport, Iowa.

Von Maur purchased 1.6 acres in The Corners development for $3 million in September 2015, from Chicago-based Brookfield Corners LLC, the joint venture formed to build The Corners development. Brookfield Corners includes Coleshill, U.K.-based IM Properties, Bradford Real Estate and Marcus Corp.

Brookfield Corners purchased the 11-acre former Menards store site at 20005 W. Bluemound Road for $11 million and the adjacent 8-acre former West Point Cinema site from an affiliate of the Marcus Corp. for $8.4 million in March 2015.

The Corners will also include a 32,000-square-foot Sendik’s grocery store and a 15,000-square-foot Arhaus Furniture store.

One of the Lowlands Group restaurants will also be located there, whether it will be a Café Benelux or Café Hollander has not yet been decided. What has been decided is the restaurant will include 6,000 square feet of rooftop dining, Speciale said.

“We’re working on another deal to do another similar restaurant with a similar rooftop patio,” Speciale said.
