Metro Milwaukee home sales up 6.6% in December

Home sales in the four county metro Milwaukee area were up 6.6 percent, compared to December of 2013, to 1,252 homes sold, according to the latest report from the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors.

It was the highest number of December home sales for the metro area since December of 2005, according to GMAR.

However, for all of 2014 home sales in the metro area were down 2.5 percent, compared to 2013, to 17,749.

The total value of all of the homes sold in the metro area was up 1 percent in 2014 to nearly $3.6 billion.

In Milwaukee County home sale prices were up 6 percent to $149,607 in 2014; in Waukesha County prices were up 2 percent to $282,760; prices in Washington County were up 2 percent to $206,103; and prices in Ozaukee County were up 1 percent to $284,239.
