Metro Milwaukee home sales up 24.3 percent in October

Home sales in the four-county metro Milwaukee area were up 24.3 percent in October, the fourth month in a row of increases compared to 2010. There were 1,044 home sales in the metro Milwaukee area in October, compared to 840 in October of 2010.

The increase is largely because sales in the second half of 2010 were down significantly after the end of the federal homebuyers tax credit in June of 2010.

“The relatively strong sales in October is an encouraging sign given the economic tumult that the national economy went through this summer,” said Mike Ruzicka, president of the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors.
