Home sales in the four county (Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington counties) metro Milwaukee area rose 2.4 percent in January, compared to January of 2008, according to Metro MLS Inc.
Sales in Ozaukee County were up 65.2 percent (to 38 from 23), sales in Waukesha County were up 13.7 percent and sales in Washington County were up 10.3 percent.
However sales in Milwaukee County were down 6.4 percent.
Sales in all four counties are still down significantly compared to January of 2008.
"The bottom line is, seller should not be under the impression that the market is turning in their favor," said Mike Ruzicka, president of the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors.
