Metro Market store opens in Shorewood

90,000-square-foot store is the fifth Metro Market location in the state

Milwaukee-based Roundy’s Supermarkets Inc., now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cincinnati-based The Kroger Co., on Tuesday opened its newest Metro Market store at 4075 N. Oakland Ave. in Shorewood.

The 90,000-square-foot, two-floor store is the fifth Metro Market location in Wisconsin. The upscale grocery store has about 400 employees. It also has a four-story attached parking garage.

Unique features at the store include: a café area with live piano music and a fireplace, made-to-order sandwiches from Oakland Avenue Deli and pizza made fresh in an 800-degree stone oven, pharmacy and dietitian services. The store also has several specialty shops including: TAP with 12 Wisconsin beers on tap and a crowler station where shoppers can take home 32 ounces of brewery fresh beer, Todd’s BBQ offering smoked meats with a variety of sauces, an oyster bar, a sushi shop, a cheese shop, and a smoothie and juice bar. It also has a Starbucks within the store.

“We believe the newest Metro Market location is the most unique shopping experience in the state of Wisconsin,” said Bob Mariano, president and CEO of Roundy’s. “Our customers will enjoy great values on everyday grocery items and experience extraordinary prepared food offerings. We are eager to serve the Shorewood community and invite our neighbors to stop in and enjoy a one-of-a kind shopping experience.”
