Meijer buys site for Wauwatosa store for $1.7 million

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer Inc. purchased a three-acre property in Wauwatosa for $1.7 million, according to state records. The property includes a 37,440-square-foot industrial building, according to LoopNet.

Meijer bought the property at 3000 N. 112th St. from Fred Elliott & Company LLC, according to documentation that was filed Tuesday.

Meijer plans to build 157,000-square-foot store on the site. Meijer stores include grocery and general merchandise departments.

The store is just one of several that Meijer plans to build in the region as it enters the southeastern Wisconsin market. Meijer also plans to build stores in Oak Creek, Sussex, Grafton and Kenosha.
