Milwaukee-based Meet-Meme Inc. is changing the way businesspeople meet and connect with each other.

Andy Wright and Jonathan Brewer created social trading cards. The social trading cards are larger than a normal business card, similar in size to a baseball card. They feature photographs of the individual and can include similar information found on a business card, plus additional information such as biographical information, Twitter handles, Facebook pages and web site URLs.

The social trading cards also feature a QR code, which allows anyone who gets the card to use their smart phone to scan and access information online about the person on the card.

The idea of the social trading cards is to enable people to bring their online profiles into the real world and then act in reverse bringing their real world contacts into the digital world, Wright and Brewer said.

“Personal branding is a huge part of what the cards do. It takes a step aside of the business cards,” said Wright, “It gives a personal impression through a picture and the special content.”

Wright and Brewer say the social trading cards take the traditional business card exchange to the next level and enhance networking. The social trading card starts as an ice breaker. Later, people who receive the cards can then scan the QR code to access online profiles on social media sites.

“We are not trying to compete with the social networking sites, we see ourselves as a gateway to those networks,” Wright said. “We want to bridge those networks in a meaningful way.”
