Medical Society to introduce programs under new brand identity

The Medical Society of Milwaukee County, an organization representing nearly 4,000 physicians across the Milwaukee community, introduced this week a new brand identity, including a new logo and the tagline of “Powered by Physicians. Compelled by Community.”

“Our new brand and website represent such an exciting evolution for the Medical Society,” said executive director Kathy Schmitz. “Together they demonstrate the vibrant leadership our physician members bring to health care in Milwaukee and the deep commitment we have to our community.”

Under the new brand, the Medical Society plans to develop new programs and initiatives for its physician members to lead.

“We’re taking a very diligent and strategic approach this coming year,” said Schmitz, adding that listening sessions with community members and stakeholders will help the society identify key health care issues. “We’re taking a step forward and seeing where these 4,000 members can be at the forefront to not only lead change but make a significant impact.”

Some of the programs and initiatives led by the Medical Society today include the pre-med mentor program that pairs 50 physicians each year with 80 pre-med students for a first glimpse into clinical medicine, as well as the community clinic collaborative that involves member physicians volunteering in area free clinics.

The role of leadership is important to the Medical Society who will be hosting its upcoming second annual awards program on Saturday, March 7 themed “Leadership That Inspires.”

At the program taking place at the Milwaukee Public Museum from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., the society will honor three winners in the categories of health care champion, community impact and student leader. The winners are expected to be announced in early February.

“The theme, ‘Leadership That Inspires,’ is an opportunity to really bring together the Medical Society and the community to celebrate and recognize those leaders out there who are making a tremendous impact on our community,” Schmitz said.

New to the awards program this year, area businesses will be providing sponsorship, including BMO Harris Bank who is the lead sponsor.

Registration for the awards program is $60 and can be done by visiting www.medicalsocietymilwaukee.org/events
