The building will not be used for patient care, but as collaborative office space for students, researchers and clinicians. MCW estimates up to 1,200 faculty and staff will be located in the building.

Milwaukee firm CG Schmidt will construct the facility, which will be built on the north side of Connell Avenue between the MCW’s medical education building and Wisconsin diagnostic laboratories.

Madison-based Flad Architects will lead the architectural and engineering design team.

Plans call for the building to be completed in the fall of 2017. The project will cost between $55 million to $60 million.
