Medical College doctor named Clinician of the Year

Dr. Joseph Shaker, professor of clinical medicine and senior medical director for ambulatory services at the Medical College of Wisconsin, has been named Clinician of the Year by the International Society of Clinical Densitometry.

The award is given annually to an outstanding ISCD clinician for distinguished service to the field of bone densitometry in the areas of publication, education and leadership. Bone densitometry is an enhanced form of X-ray used to measure bone loss due to medical conditions such as osteoporosis.

Shaker practices at the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Community Memorial Hospital campus. His clinical interests include osteoporosis, metabolic bone diseases and parathyroid disorders.
